Znam da pise da ne bi trebale da se stavljaju citave recenice i tekstovi za prevod,ali za ovo mi treba pomoc.Odprilike znam da prevedem,ali ipak me interesuje koje cete vi reci upotrebiti,cisto da proverim da li su moje adekvatne,ali ne mogu samo staviti te reci jer prevod zavisi od konteksta...

'The words I learn now don't stand for things in the same unquestioned way they did in my native tongue. 'River' in Polish was a vital sound,energised with the essence of riverhood,of my rivers,of my being immersed in rivers.'River' in English is cold.It has no accumulated associations for me.

When my friend Penny tells me that she's envious or happy or disappointed, I try laboriously not to translate from the English to the Polish but from the word back to its source,to the feeling from which it springs.Already,in that moment of strain,spontaneity of response is lost.And anyway,the translation doesn't work.I don't know how Penny feels when she talks about envy...
