Procenjuje se da je tokom proteklih dvadeset godina oko trideset američkih muzeja i različitih institucija prevario jedan jedini čovek, uspešni falsifikator koji se predstavlja kao jezuitski sveštenik, i koji nudi slike poznatih umetnika na poklon. Tvrdeći da zbog svog poziva nije u mogućnosti da zadrži takva materijalna dobra, nudio ih je muzejima. Primaoci poklona su se prema njemu odnosili veoma velikodušno, zbog nagoveštaja da bi još neka slika mogla da završi kod njih. Tako je "sveštenik" gošćen i čašćavan diljem SAD, i na taj način je izvlačio korist iz svoje lažne pozicije, iako lažne slike nije prodavao.

Uostalom, nije sve u novcu, ima nečeg i u slavi.

Unlike other forgers, the "priest" does not ask for payment of any kind for his Picassos, Signacs and Daumiers which have been described as "masterful". It seems the alleged fraudster simply enjoys fooling museum experts who have not only accepted his fakes as cherished gifts but invited him to "special donor events" in the belief that he has more to give.
Research by senior museum figures suggests he has targeted more than 30 museums so far and institutions across the United States are now being warned to look out for him. Whether he has visited British museums bearing gifts is unclear.

As the priest, he explains that he wants to give a work of art in memory of his late mother who came from wherever the museum is located. He tells them that, as a minister, he cannot keep it for himself.

He is also suspected of acting under two other aliases. Sometimes his story involves a donation in memory of his late father, whom he describes as having been a high-ranking military officer. Ceremoniously handing over his work to the grateful institution, he hints at other possible donations before making his exit.

Ево још једне приче, у којој је човјек на непоштен, али помало досјетљив начин, зарадио новац.

АЛАЛ МУ ВЕРА!
Испред Зоолошког врта у Бристолу постоји паркиралиште за сто педесет аутомобила и осам аутобуса. Двадесет пет година паркинг је наплаћивао један веома љубазан и пријатан човек. Возачима кола узимао је две и по фунте (око четири долара), док је такса за аутобусе износила седам и по фунти. Једног дана, после четврт века преданог рада, човек се једноставно није појавио на радном месту. Сви су се питали шта је с њим, јер до тада ниједан једини дан није изостао с посла. Управи Врта није преостало друго него да се обрати градским властима овог енглеског града. Замолили су их да им пошаљу новог радника. Из градске управе убрзо је стигло обавештење да назначено паркиралиште није у њиховој надлежности, већ је у поседу Зоо врта. Управа животињског раја била је, најблаже речено, затечена кад је схватила да човек који је наплаћивао паркинг никад није био на платном списку градске управе.
Љубазни човек, за кога се такође убрзо испоставило да је тотални незнанац и да ама баш нико не зна како се звао, очигледно је сам поставио машину и годинама уредно убирао новац од такси за паркирање. Ако се грубо израчуна да је дневно зарађивао око хиљаду двеста фунти и да је радио свих седам дана у недељи, за двадесет пет година прикупио је вртоглавих десетак милиона долара. Домишљати незнанац сад вероватно седи у некој вили на Карипским или ко зна којим другим рајским острвима и ужива у подвали која га је претворила у милионера.

Jeste domišljat taj lik iz priče, pa ćemo mu odobriti da ostane ovde na Likovnim umetnostima, iako nije baš u nekoj vezi sa njima. Uostalom, šta sve ovih dana prolazi kao konceptualna umetnost, može i on.

I dalje zanimljivo. Dva članka o ovom falsifikatoru, koji, izgleda, nije prekršio nijedan zakon.

He takes nothing more in return for them than an occasional lunch or a few tchotchkes from the gift shop. He turns down tax write-off forms, and it’s unclear whether he has broken any laws. But his activities have nonetheless cost museums, which have had to pay for analysis of the works, for research to figure out if more of his fakes are hiding in their collections and for legal advice. (The Hilliard said it discovered the forgery within hours, using a microscope to find a printed template beneath the paint.)
