Beta test AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, version 7

On this route we have now reached the next milestone: The beta version of the new AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic Windows, version 7 is ready for testing.

With version 7 we have tried to consistently enhance the AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium that you know. Version 7 therefore comes with numerous outstanding new or enhanced features. For instance:

Opet slicno s*anje sa update-om. Velik je oko 3Mb. Nista od kratkih inkrementalnih update-ova:(

pa stani... jos je Beta testiranje (ja sam negde procitao da traje do 6-og 12 ali izgleda da nije... )...

Prerequisites for the beta testing of the new heuristic engine 2
The new heuristic engine 2 only works with the new AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, version 7 that is undergoing beta testing right now as well. You can download the beta version of the AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic from this website.

Characteristics of the new heuristic engine (beta)
The heuristic engine that is the subject of this beta test and that will be integral part of the AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, version 7 has been completely revised to detect this modified malware with the help of enhanced statistical and geometric analyses.

It is the objective of the new heuristic engine to reduce the number of false alarms. To achieve this, the detection of malware categories such as worms, backdoors, trojans, downloaders, droppers and browser hijackers has been greatly optimized.

Together with the static runtime packer unpacking of the 6.33 engine that is already part of the AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, Version 7 - beta - the heuristic engine performs code analyses and searches for typical malware functionality.

Installation and configuration of the new heuristic engine
The new heuristic engine is a DLL named AVEWIN32.DLL. If you want to download this file please click on the following link:

AntiVir heuristic engine 2 (AVEWIN32.ZIP)
After downloading it unpack the file and copy the DLL into the root directory of your AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, version 7, beta version. This is by default the directory C:\Programs\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic.

Please note:
The new heuristic engine (beta) only works properly with the AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, version 7 (beta). You should in no case use it with an existing installation of AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, version 6. With the new heuristic-engine we want to reduce the number of false alarms. Therefore you should raise the Win32 file heuristic recognition level to "high detection level" for the Guard.

Heuristic behaviour and Communication of Bugs
Please note that the number of false alarms could significantly increase during the test. This can especially happen with files such as razbijacs, keygens, trainers and NoCD patches, because these are, just like malware, often specially packed and modified.

It is important that detected files are classified as false alarms. Therefore do not delete those detected files but email them to the following address:
heuristik@antivir.de

Please pack detected files into a ZIP archive and protect this archive with the password "heuristik2" to make sure that possibly infected files are not filtered out by Internet providers.

Important Notice
The new heuristic engine and the new AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, Version 7 are both beta versions that might contain bugs or produce irregular behaviour. Therefore both products should not be used in a productive environment.

stvarno? Bas glupo... Mozda im sad nesto zastoj kod njih zbog toga sto uskoro izbacuju novu verziju AV-a Da li si ga redovno updateovao? Mislim ono svaki dan ili...?

Ja ga koristim nedelju dana i vise sam nego prijatno iznenadjen. Najvise je radjeno na interfejsu. Sada najvise podseca na BitDefender, na primer. Kod mene su apdejti 200-300 kb, prvi je samo bio nekih 700 kb.

Koristim i heuristic engine 2 beta.

Ostalo je manje-vise isto: veoma lagan, sjajan za starije masine, standardno dobar u detekciji. U stvari, koliko je dobar u detekciji najbolje govori podatak da je odmah po instaliranju nasao 5 fajlova zarazenih Ider.A.Rkit virusom koje Kaspersky 6 Beta nije detektovao iako je bio uredno apdejtovan. Ni sam nisam verovao pa sam proverio na jotti-ju. Rezultat: gotovo svi antivirusi (osim AVG-a i F-prota u 2-3 slucaja i UNA i ClamAV, za koje nemam pojma cemu uopste sluze jer nikada nista ne prijavljuju) su otkrili da su svih pet fajlova zarazeni istim virusom, ukljucujuci i Kaspersky!? Mislim da na jotti-ju koriste KAV 5. Ocigledno postoji neki propust sa definicijama u KAV 6 Beta verziji.

Cini mi se da je nova verzija stabilnija od prethodne, mada sam ja malo nesto i sredjivao moju staru masinu koja mi sluzi za testiranje raznih zastitinih programa pa je mozda i to doprinelo stabilnosti AntiVir-a.

Ono sto je i dalje negativno jeste da i pored svih napora da smanje broj laznih uzbuna, AntiVir sa heuristikom podesenom na high level i dalje povremeno ima laznih uzbuna. Znaci, ako ste novajlija, iskljucite Win32 heuristiku u opcijama. Oni napredniji mogu da ostave na optimum level ili high level, ako su ljubitelji adrenalina pa ako nesto podje naopako na pc-ju neka vade fajlove iz karantina.

Sve u svemu, takav program za toliko novca (0$) AntiVir Classic 7 Beta cini jednim od najboljih freeware programa danas.

Ima li ova verzija 7 e-mail scener i real-time zastitu za e-mail?!

Instalirao sam ga i za sada sam zadovoljan sa njim. Nisam video opciju guard za email.

uh... Kad sam video skin iznenadio sam se
Jako lepo izgleda ali su mu opcije manje vise iste! Jedino sad ima skeniranje mailova ali... Nije u pitanju skeniranje "odlazecih/dolazecih" mailova vec skenira na serveru mailove! Sto i nije lose (bolje ista nego nista jel?). Memorije isto trosi kao i pre (ispod 20 mb) i to je to...

jedino jos nisam probao Heuristik Engine 2 (jos je beta) tako da a sad nista od toga (ne znam ni kako se integrise u AV)...

Nisam jos koristio ovaj AV ali bih rekao na osnovu analiza i onih koji ga koriste da ima najbolju detekciju od free AV!!Sta vi kazete na to?!

Mnogo su im spori serveri, a na softpediji i majorgeeksu još uvek stoji 6-ica.
