Nai�ao sam danas na objavu u vezi FreeBSD slike za RPI. Ne se�am se ta�nog linka, ali sa�uvao sam objave sa RPI bloga. Ovo je trenutni status dostupnosti slika BSD derivata za RPI:

Naisao sam na tekst i odgledao webcast prezentaciju. Dobra vest za sve one koji su prizeljkivali Gnome3 na OpenBSD-u - Gnome3 zaista izgleda fino moram priznati, u tekstu mozete videti da je dev napisao i malo programce za mount-ovanje USB uredjaja; kao sto vidite na prezentaciji radi odlicno.

FreeBSD tromesecni izvestaj o tome sta se radilo od oktobra do decembra 2013:

This report covers FreeBSD-related projects between October and December 2013. This is the last of four reports planned for 2013.

The last quarter of 2013 was very active for the FreeBSD community, much like the preceding quarters. Many advances were made in getting FreeBSD to run on ARM-based System-on-Chip boards like Cubieboard, Rockchip, Snapdragon, S4, Freescale i.MX6, and Vybrid VF6xx. FreeBSD is also becoming a better platform for Xen and the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. There are plans for FreeBSD to become a fully supported compute host for OpenStack. The I/O stack has again received some performance boosts on multi-processor systems through work touching the CAM and GEOM subsystems, and through better adaptation of UMA caches to system memory constraints for ZFS. The FreeBSD Foundation did an excellent job in this quarter, and many of their sponsored projects like VT-d and UEFI support, iSCSI stack, Capsicum, and auditdistd are about to complete. At the same time, new projects like Automounter and Intel GPU updates have just been launched. The Newcons project has been merged into -CURRENT, which will make it possible to finally move to the latest version of X.Org in the Ports Collection. Efforts are also under way to improve testing with Jenkins and Kyua. It is an exciting time for users and developers of FreeBSD!

Re�ih da isprobam i neku distribuciju BSD-a pa me zanima koju biste mi preporu�ili za po�etnike? Mislim, nebi mi bilo te�ko da se prilagodim i nekoj naprednijoj distribuciji , ali mene �isto zanima da isprobam neke mogu�nosti i zanima me da li su sli�ne Linuks distribucijama? I da li je Darwin tako�e u neku ruku zahtevan, po�to sam �uo da je jezgro Meka bazirano na Darwin-u?

GhostBSD je user-friendly distribucija, sa Gnome okru�enjem (postoje izdanja i sa Openbox i LXDE okru�enjem) koja je bazirana na FreeBSD-u.
Ina�e GhostBSD je live distribucija koja se mo�e i instalirati.

Citat:GhostBSD 3.1 is now available. This release is a respin of 3.0, including many bug fixes. GhostBSD 3.1 does not include any updated package or new features; it only fixes issues that some users have found. Changes: update FreeBSD 9.1 to FreeBSD 9.1-p4; improvements in the X.Org auto-configuration; the NVIDIA drivers have bean removed to fix issues with older cards; numerous bug fixes to GhostBSD-related utilities; Openbox and LXDE amd64 ISO images fit on CD again; the package manager and pkg_add are functional again.

FreeBSD status izvestaj - Januar-Mart 2013

Jos jedan tromesecni izvestaj o desavanjima vezano za FreeBSD u periodu od januara do marta 2013. Izdvojio bih:

--> polako se u 10-CURRENT formira podrska za KMS za AMD graficke;

--> podrska za Multipath TCP (MPTCP), u isvestaju se navodi da ce uskoro biti izdat tehnicki izvestaj o tome a posto sam video da je u medjuvremenu izdat evo linka:

Naravno MPTCP ce biti izdat pod BSD licencom. Kod tek treba da se prebaci u FreeBSD repo i trenutno je u alfa je izdanju.

--> Port UDF fajl sistema (koristi se na DVD i Blue ray diskovima) iz NetBSD. Za sada je podrska samo read-only ali ima poboljsanja u odnosu na original.

--> Novi iSCSI stek, koliko se secam ranije je FreeBSD koristio iSCSI target podrsku iz NetBSD, pa je imao svoju, a ovo je izgleda izmenjeno novo izdanje. U zadnje vreme se malo igram sa iSCSI pa cu testirati povezivanje na NetBSD target.

--> Poboljsanje za ARM; nekoliko unosa: pocetna podrska za Allwinner A10 SoC, i neke druge stvari vezano za ARM v7 kao i npr. to da je sada Clang podrazumevani kompajler za ARM i da postoji pocetna podrska za Cubieboard i Hackberry.

Problem sa podizanjem FreeBSD webservera unutar virtualnog okru�enja

Imam projekat unutar kojeg moram instalirati FreeBSD unutar nekog virtuelnog okru�enja. Izabrao sam vmware. Instalacija je protekla bez problema.

Slede�e �to moram uraditi je da instaliram BIND, Apache, PHP i MySQL, kreiram domen mojeime.com i na njemu instaliram joomla, kao dokaz da su svi servisi uredno instalirani.

Do sada sam uspeo da instaliram FreeBSD, BIND98, Apache, ali sam nai�ao na prve probleme.

Unutar rc.conf fajla mi je pode�en DHCP

Sad bi trebalo da re�im ovaj problem, pa da onda vidim �ta nije u redu sa BIND.

Avo kratkog tutorijala sa zvanicnog FreeBSD foruma o tome kako u nekoliko koraka pokrenuti Android u VirtualBox na FreeBSD-u:

Na Phoronix sajtu je objavljen clanak o novom FreeBSD hypervisoru, BHyVe:

Arch BSD - Arch inspirisan BSD operativni sistem

Arch BSD je najavljen kao BSD baziran operativni sistem inspirisan Arch Linuksom. Arch BSD koristi Arch-ov manager paketa i inspirisan je "Arch na�inom". Arch BSD nema veze sa zvani�nim Arch Linuksom i delo je nezavisnog programera. Prvo alpha izdanje se o�ekuje uskoro.

Autor navodi slede�e razloge za pokretanje projekta:
Citat:"Why would I do this? If like me, you enjoy FreeBSD and love it, but also like the philosophy behind Arch Linux, which is a fast, lightweight, optimized distro, I figured why not combine the both. Even tho you could just do it on FreeBSD using the ports, not everyone wants to compile."

Ne znam. Meni ovo zvu�i malo neubedljivo. I sam Arch ima svoj ABS koji je inspirisan upravo BSD portovima. Tako da ne�to ba� i nisam uveren da �e ovo ispasti ozbiljniji projekat ili da autor dovoljno poznaje Arch ili BSD. Ali budu�nost �e pokazati da li sam u pravu.

Xfce 4.10 na NetBSD?

Postoje li show-stopperi za Xfce 4.10 na NetBSD ili samo jo� niko nije stigao da poradi na tome? Vidim da je u FreeBSD ve� dostupan, ali stekao sam utisak da je NetBSD ekipa dosta manja.

Btw, vidim da je u pkgsrc-wip dostupan 4.8. 4.6.1 je u pkgsrc.

Koliko je pametno uop�te koristiti pkgsrc-wip?

Igram se malo sa BSD-ovima pod VirtualBoxom. Imam FreeBSD i NetBSD. NetBSD mi za sada nekako malo bolje le�i. A i isprobavam pkgsrc/ports sisteme iz nekih drugi razloga.

FreeBSD - RaspberyPi

Repo za freebsd-pi je ubacen u HEAD granu. Sada radi podrska za SD karticu, moze da se skine imidz (ili da se koriste skripte pa da se iskompajlira svoj imidz) i da se isproba na RPi direktno:
