Chicago (IL) - ATI and Nvidia offer two new beta versions of their driver packages. Both are described as "minor", but essentially aim to improve the performance of graphic cards for Half-Life 2.
Nvidia's Forceware v67.02 adds a new performance and quality option "Negative LOD bias" to the user control panel, includes a number of compatibility fixes, integrates support for SLI, DVI timing for the GeForce 6 series, TV/HDTV setup, 512 MByte frame buffer GPUs, as well as DirectX9.0c and OpenGL 1.5. According to sources, the driver will also increase the performance of Nvidia GPUs under Half-Life 2.
Similarly, ATI's Catalyst 4.12 beta driver package mainly targets the new game, but also resolves "random hanging with certain systems when using the PunkBuster server".
