ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT have taken a step closer to moving to Europe permanently by buying an apartment in Berlin, Germany. The couple have been regular visitors to the German capital, and have now taken ownership of a luxury 600 square metre (6,500 square foot) attic flat in what used to be East Berlin, according to the German edition of Vanity Fair. The GIRL, INTERRUPTED star - who already has homes in the US and an apartment in Paris, France, with Pitt - wants her adopted children MADDOX and ZAHARA and her biological daughter SHILOH to grow up outside the Hollywood bubble. Pitt is good friends with German architects LARS KRUECKEBERG, WOLFRAM PUTZ and THOMAS WILLEMEIT, who designed his house in Los Angeles.

Brad & Angelina’s Vietnam Adoption
US Weekly is reporting that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have filed paperwork with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services to adopt a boy from the Tam Binh orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Brad and Angie spent Thanksgiving in Vietnam back in November 2006.
The couple have three children — Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 9 months.
Maddox was born in Cambodia, Zahara was born in Ethiopia, and baby Shiloh was born in Namibia

Angelina Jolie is back in Africa, traveling for a third time on behalf of the United Nations to monitor the crisis in Darfur, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
This time, Jolie, the Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the U.N. refugee agency, will not be allowed to actually go to Darfur itself, due to the violent, unstable conditions. As a result, the actress will be visiting refugee camps in N'Djamena, Chad, about two miles from the border.
Jolie arrived in Chad on Sunday and is expected to stay there for a few days, Trevor Neilson, Jolie's political adviser, tells PEOPLE. Her aim with this latest trip is to continue to raise awareness about the continuing crisis, and also see the current conditions – which have deteriorated since her last trip in 2004.
In other Jolie news, the actress has been nominated to join the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations, a think tank of international stalwarts including four Secretaries of State – Condoleezza Rice, Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright. Other members of the group include Alan Greenspan, Tom Brokaw and Richard Holbrooke.
Neilson says the nomination (submitted by a sitting member of the council) was approved, but the board will still need to give its final approval in June. Said Neilson: "Few people are more committed than she is to these issues."
