Uzela sam Protićevo Srpsko slikarstvo XX veka, ne bih li nešto pročitala o Ivanu Tabakoviću, i neočekivano sam naišla na sledeći citat:
"Izvanredno teška ravnoteža koju treba da održimo između površine pojava i dubine značenja svakako je ono najnovije u situaciji čoveka XX stoleća. Odricati to bilo bi uzaludno. Naprotiv, moramo prihvatiti tu novost i naučiti da se koristimo svim sredstvima koja nam još stoje na raspolaganju.
Taj problem, zajednički svim ljudima, morao bi biti ujedno i bitniji i manje teskoban i za naučnika i za umetnika. Oba po svom pozivu stvarno rade na granici tajni."

Too many students nowadays come to universities to find out where they're coming from instead of where they're going. In education, your goal is more important than your roots.

Najpol ::Zapad greši kad, u svojoj samodopadljivosti, smatra da se celokupna postojeća civilizacija zasniva na čisto rasnoj osnovi. Nju nije stvorila jedna rasa niti jedna država. Mnogi su učestvovali u njenom oblikovanju. To je veoma eklektična civilizacija i svet je osvojila upravo svojom slobodoljubivošću.
Ogorčen sam kada predstavnici nekih kulturnih sredina izjavljuju: 'Odrecite se toga. Vratite se svojim korenima.' Ako se odreknete sveopšte civilizacije, imajte na umu da vam ne ostaje ništa što bi je moglo zamenii. Arapi, muslimani, neki afrikanci idu tim putem. Mislim da je to veoma opasno

Nije tuzore ta računica "onostrana" samo zato što tebi nije bliska. Računica ima na svim stranama, i vrlo su ovozemaljske.

Potpuno si u pravu. "Onostrana" je iz sasvim drugih razloga, a ne zbog nečijih afiniteta, nečije indiferentnosti, ili nečije ignorancije.
