1995, US Fish and Wildlife Service zajedno sa kanadskim biolozima zarobili su 14 vukova u Kanadi i pustili ih u Jelouston nacionalni park odakle su prethodno istrebljeni još od 1926. godine.

U nekoliko narednih godina, broj vukova u Jeloustonu je rastao, ali to nije bila najveća promena koja je zadesila ovaj nacionalni park.
