Slekver filozofija
Od svog prvog beta izdanja u aprilu 1993, Slekver Linuks projekat je težio da ponudi „naj-JUNIKSolikiju“ distribuciju Linuksa. Slekver prati Linuks standarde, kao što je Linuks standard o sistemu datoteka (eng: Linux File System Standard). Slekver tim je uvek smatrao jednostavnost i stabilnost kao osnovu, i kao rezultat Slekver je postao jedna od najpopularnijih, najstabilnijih i najprijateljskiji nastrojenih distribucija.
Kratak pregled Slekver Linuksa
Slekver Linuks je kompletni 32-bitni i 64-bitni multitasking „JUNIKS-oliki“ sistem. Trenutno je baziran na 3.2 seriji Linuks kernela i GNU C biblioteci 2.15 (libc6). Sadrži instalacioni program lak za upotrebu, opširnu dokumentaciju i sistem upravljanja paketima zasnovan na menijima. Puna instalacija vam donosi „X“ sistem upravljanja prozorima, „C“ i „C++“ razvojna okruženja, „Perl“, mrežne alate, server e-pošte, „usenet“ server, veb server, ftp server, GIMP, Mozila Fajerfoks i mnoge druge programe. Slekver Linuks može biti pokrenut na velikom rasponu sistema: od 486 baziranih sistema sve do poslednjih „x86“ mašina (ali koristi -mcpu=i686 optimizaciju za najbolje performanse na „i686“ klasi procesora kao što su „P3“, „P4“, „Duron/Athlon“, i poslednji više-jezgarni x86 procesori).

In the slackware-current changelog Pat has stated that :
Although there's still quite a bit in the TODO queue here I'm making my steps carefully as -current is very stable, and I think it should ship as a stable 11.0 soon so that we can get back to the business of breaking things in -current. :-)

We *are* getting closer to 11.0, friends.
I'm hoping for a larger changeset soon, but this should be fun to play with
for now as I work on the TODO list; merging, compiling, and initial testing.

kernels/huge26.s/*: Upgraded huge26.s kernel to 2.6.16.24.
The name of the big kernel with many built-in options has been changed from
test26.s to huge26.s to reflect that Slackware 11.0 will consider the
2.6.16.x kernel series to be a supported kernel series. However, I'm
probably going to leave the bare.i 2.4.32 kernel as the default kernel (or
perhaps sata.i?) as it has very good performance and probably better security
due to the simpler and longer-tested design. I might apply or at least make
available in the kernel-source package for 2.4.32 a patch to fix direct
rendering with 2.4.x kernels and X.Org 6.9.0 or newer. Since anyone using
Slackware for server use isn't likely to be loading the DRI modules, it's
untouched code on those machines and won't affect server stability (well,
depending on what, if anything, outside of the module is changed in the
kernel). It is probably a safe enough patch to apply. I'd rather ship 100%
vanilla kernels (and might, with the patch "on the side"), but DRI does not
work without the patch past X.Org 6.8.2. Is this enough text here?

Slackware Linux V11.0 RC1
Slackware - one of distributivov GNU/Linux. It a little is differed from another popular distributivov (such as Debian, Gentoo, Mandrakelinux, Red Hat and SuSE) fact that Slackware was and remains "very UNIX'ovym" - its features they are stability and safety, and also simplicity of installation, support and use. To the worshippers of this distributiva they assign this statement: "if you know Slackware - you know GNU/Linux. If you know Red Hat, then everything that you know - this Red Hat ".

Slackware was one of the earliest Linux distributions, and is the oldest distribution still being maintained. It was created by Patrick Volkerding of Slackware Linux, Inc. It has a policy of incorporating only stable releases of applications, standing mainly for stability and ease of use. For a good while, other Linux distributions that came after it were in fact evaluated for their "Slackware compatibility".

a/udev-096-i486-4.tgz: Generate network card naming rules in
/.etch/udev/rules.d/netshork-deviches.rules, but comment them out. I think
these additions are not quite reliable enough in all cases to be the default
for the Slackware 11 release (of course, you have udev occasionally detecting
multiple network cards in a different order, and so on some router machines
these rules will be needed). Or, you could run a 2.4..x kernel.; -)
If your system is naming network devices strangely you should delete your
existing /.etch/udev/rules.d/netshork-deviches.rules and reboot. If that doesn't
do the trick you'll probably need to edit the file.
Instead of having udev make the CD/DVD symlinks, have a new script called
/.lib/udev/rch.optichal-symlinks do it. If you'd rather use Piter Punk's method
(which works better for hotplugging USB optical drives, for example), then
just comment/uncomment the appropriate rules in of /.etch/udev/rules.d/udev.rules.
