Winamp i tačka! To je otprilike stav najvećeg broja korisnika računara kada su u pitanju audio-plejeri. Mnogi od njih čak nemaju ni želju da probaju bilo šta drugo, sem eventualno Windows Media Playera koji se dobija u okviru operativnog sistema. Donekle se moramo složiti s takvim stavom jer Winamp zaista donosi korisniku skoro sve što mu je potrebno. Ali to nije razlog da se ne probaju i alternative, naročito ako su besplatne. Vodeći se tim principom, došli smo do programa koji se zove foobar2000. Ako će nekom nešto da znači, to je projekat Petera Pawlowskog, jednog od poznatih developera Winamp plug-in modula. Svoje iskustvo u razvoju dodataka za Winamp on je pretočio u samostalan program.

Prvi utisak nakon startovanja programa nije tako dobar. U eri odlično dizajniranih i grafički prelepih alata, foobar2000 izgleda previše spartanski. Ali nemojte da vas izgled zavara. Kada malo zavirite ispod haube, shvatićete da se iza ružnog pačeta krije prelepi labud. Neke od osnovnih osobina ovog programa jesu malo zauzeće memorije, podrška za veliki broj audio-formata, puna podrška za unicode standard... foobar2000 nije samo audio-plejer. On u isto vreme predstavlja i biblioteku audio-fajlova, može da se koristi za konverziju između podržanih audio-formata, za ripovanje audio CD-ova itd. Kako je program besplatan i s obzirom na autorovo iskustvo u izradi audio-komponenti za druge programe, ne čudi njegovo opredeljenje da omogući i drugim developerima da kreiraju komponente koje se jednostavno mogu inkorporirati u osnovni program. Naravno, podržan je i streaming, to jest reprodukcija audio-fajlova „u letu”, pri čemu je korisniku dozvoljeno da sam podešava veličinu bafera. Ovim je i korisnicima koji su osuđeni na male brzine Internet konekcije omogućena reprodukcija bez „seckanja”.

Posebnu priču čini DSP menadžer. DSP (Digital Signal Processing) u konkretnom slučaju predstavlja sistem modula koji služe za definisanje načina reprodukcije zvuka. Jedan od uobičajenih DSP-ova je ekvilajzer, ali se foobar2000 ne zaustavlja na tome. On omogućava konverziju stereo-signala u mono, prebacivanje zvuka sa prednjih na zadnje zvučnike (ima smisla koristiti samo ukoliko posedujete 5.1 sistem zvučnika), zamenu stereo-kanala itd. Nama je najinteresantniji bio DSP koji služi za konverziju 5.1 zvuka u stereo. Ponadali smo se da ćemo uz pomoć ove komponente moći da reprodukujemo i DTS audio CD-ove (kao što to radi VLC Media Player), ali nismo imali sreće. Problem nije bio u samom modulu, već u činjenici da program nema podršku za reprodukciju DTS audio-diskova kao što je ima pomenuti VLC. Drugim rečima, foobar2000 je uredno spakovao 5.1 zvuk na stereo-izlaze, samo što se nakon toga šuštanje koje se čulo na svim kanalima preusmerilo samo na prednji levi i prednji desni satelit.

Broj podržanih audio-formata je za svaku pohvalu. foobar2000 ima ugrađenu podršku za MP3, OGG, MP2, AAC, WAV, AIFF, Musepack, SND i VOC formate, a kroz postojeće plug-in module može da reprodukuje dodatnih osamnaest audio-formata. Pored toga, postoji podrška za direktnu reprodukciju iz ZIP, 7-ZIP i RAR arhiva, bez potrebe da se one raspakuju. Posebno nam se svideo sistem funkcionisanja lista za reprodukciju. foobar2000 može da učita više lista za reprodukciju istovremeno, a one će se prikazivati u tabovima. Ne treba zaboraviti ni podršku za ReplayGain (određivanje jačine zvuka) i kompletan sistem za tagovanje audio-fajlova.

Kada se sve uzme u obzir, praktično ne postoji ništa što bismo mogli navesti kao negativan aspekt ovog programa. Besplatan je, mali, odlično radi ono za šta je namenjen – pa šta više tražiti od audio-programa?

* New configuration file format:
- Configuration of individual components is now stored in separate files. Reading of old configuration files is still supported so your settings will be preserved while upgrading from older versions; however you will not be able to downgrade back to older 0.9.x releases without losing your settings.

* Non-functional components:
- Obsolete components: Some of existing third party components provide functionality that is now provided out-of-the-box. It is strongly recommend to remove these components as many of them are known to have major stability issues. The installer will prompt you whether you want relevant components to be removed automatically.
- Outdated components: Components built with buggy foobar2000 SDKs older than 2006-07-30 are no longer loaded. The installer will forcefully remove such components. You will be prompted so you can make a backup copy before proceeding if you intend to keep these files.

* Time limit in beta versions: To prevent people from running outdated beta versions, every beta version now expires after four weeks from the original release.

* Menu layout changes:
- A new Context Menu structure has been introduced along with a reworked context menu preferences page.
- Holding down shift while opening a menu - with both context and main menu - will bring up menu commands that are normally hidden, so you no longer need to go through the preferences page to access obscure commands that are hidden by default.

* Reworked Preferences: Various standard Preferences pages have been reworked. The Preferences dialog now has OK, Apply and Cancel buttons. Existing components need to be updated to utilize the new Preferences functionality.

* New Edit Menu behavior: With Default User Interface, the Edit Menu commands operate on currently selected items, not just on the currently active playlist. This allows - for an example - to use the Copy command on Album List selection.
This feature currently does not work with third party user interfaces - Edit Menu commands operate on the active playlist just like in old foobar2000 versions; relevant components will need to be updated to comply.

* Custom cover art filename patterns: You can now set custom filename patterns and paths for front cover, back cover, artist and disc artwork. You also have the ability to set a stub image for each of these.

* Built-in support for Windows Media streaming: Buggy third party components are no longer required to play ASX/MMS/RTSP streams. It's recommended to uninstall relevant components.

Kako da sačuvam sve plejliste od jednom?
Na File-Save playlist on sačuva samo trenutno selektovanu. Evo na šta mislim:

Licno, nikad nisam koristio ovu opciju...al sam je iz prve nasao
E sad, ti imas skin koji nije bas standardni pa mozda neces moci na ovaj nacin....al probaj klikati desnim klikom na bilo koju playlist-u, recimo na ENIGMA, pa gledaj dal iskace Save All...

Care, care to je to!
Ja sve idem iz toolbara na File pa Save playlist... Bas sam pajser
Inace sam dva puta ubacivao sve pesme u liste jer nisam sve podesio kako hocu pa sam ga skrsio a nisam sacuvao liste.
Jako je dobar ovaj Foobar, ima jako puno mogucnosti i odaberes samo ono sto ti treba. Imam dve instalacije, jedna je portable pa na njoj isprobavam kako sta radi da ne bi zeznuo onu glavnu.
Hvala jos jednom, ja sam se toliko zaglibio u komplexnost plejera da nisam probao najjednostavniju mogucnost. Verovatno sam ocekivao da je komplikovanije. To je kao ono, od sume ne vidis drvo

Za mnoge je ovaj fenomenalni plejer jos nepoznanica...tako da par saveta za pocetnike

Za one koji se prvi put susrecu sa plejerom nek skoknu u Playback->DSP manager opcije, tu mozete podesiti da se preskace tisina izmedju pesama, podesiti preklapanje(crossfade) pesama, normalizaciju itd

Takodje kad pokrenete plejer videcete da po difoltu plejlista malo cudno-nestandardno prikazuje tagove pesama, ako vam nisu tagovane, po difoltu ih nece ni prikazati.Ali zato mozete prikaz prilagoditi svojim potrebama desnim klikom na gornji deo plejliste, ako zelite da vam naziv prikazuje onako kako je na hardu, onda odaberite file name prikaz, ako su vam tagovene pesme onda ste na "konju" i imate veliki izbor parametara
Ja sam po mojim potrebama ovako konfigurisao:

koristim plejer za APE I FLAC reprodukciju, ima podrsku za ASIO (plugin) i trenutno mislim da nema boljeg i jednostavnijeg.....
inace plejer se moze BRUTALNO prilagodjavati i menjati....
